With his remarkable gift for presenting the essence of Buddhism in a way that is both authentic and profoundly relevant to the modern mind, Sogyal Rinpoche is one of the most renowned spiritual teachers of our time.

During this most recent of his visits to Bhutan, Rinpoche wants to make his teaching simple, practical, and easy to follow and remember. By using illustrative charts and other visual aids, he will give a clear, accessible, yet in-depth introduction and grounding in the teaching and practice of Buddhism. Participants will also take home a handout containing the essential points and prayers from the weekend. The Buddha’s wisdom is as relevant and inspirational today as it was 2,500 years ago. Rinpoche will give guidance on how we can bring these principles into our lives, allowing us to taste the Buddha’s wisdom so that it becomes a natural part of our daily experience.

During this teaching Rinpoche will also give the lung (aural transmission) for Refuge, Bodhichitta, Guru Rinpoche practice and the mantra of Buddha, Avoleketishvara (Chenrezig, Tib.), and Tara.

SOGYAL RINPOCHE BIOGRAPHY
Born in Kham in Eastern Tibet, Sogyal Rinpoche was recognized as the incarnation of Lerab Lingpa Tertön Sogyal, a teacher to the thirteenth Dalai Lama, by the great Dorjé Chang Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö, one of the most outstanding spiritual teachers of the twentieth century. Jamyang Khyentse supervised Rinpoche’s training and raised him like his own son.
Rinpoche continued to study with many masters, of all schools, especially Kyabjé Dudjom Rinpoche and Kyabjé Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. He served as a translator and aide to Kyabjé Dudjom Rinpoche for many years and then began teaching under his guidance.

Rinpoche is also the author of the highly-acclaimed and ground-breaking book, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. Over two million copies of this spiritual classic have been printed in 30 languages and 56 countries. In the East, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying has been received with tremendous impact and enthusiasm by English speakers in the Himalayan regions, such as Bhutan, as well as in Taiwan and mainland China.

In addition, Rinpoche is the founder and spiritual director of Rigpa, an international network of 130 Buddhist centres and groups in 41 countries around the world. He has been teaching for over 30 years and continues to travel widely in Europe, America, Australia, and Asia, addressing thousands of people on his retreats and teaching tours.
