MAP to Nyin-Dah Yoga Studio

Yoga classes will be now conducted at Joyce's atic

Directions:
The atic is at the top of the small building at Shambala Apartments.
It's very close to UNICEF. If you are standing in front of UNICEF on Thori Lam, go down the street (towards town) and take the 2nd small street on your left.
It will get you into a sort of courtyard. Don't worry, the dog is nice :D .
There are 2 apartment buildings, it's the first one (small one), take the stairs up to the atic... and be ready to enjoy your practice!

In case these directions are confusing, you can always call 17957404.

*** THIS IS OLD INFORMATION ***

Nyin-Dah Yoga Studio is located in Chamzangthok (Thimphu), in the Lyonpo Bld. Wangdi Norbu, on the Upper Ring Road.
Once you arrive in front of the building, walk to its other side (valley side), enter the main door and take the stairs to the offices floor. It's the first door on your right (O-1).

Here is a home-made map to guide you to the studio (we hope our artistic skills are not too artistic :D ) :

Thai Yoga Massage

Do your Body and Mind
feel the need of a Thai Yoga Bodywork session?
Joyce will be happy to help you!

Please, read further for more information.

Origins:
Thai Yoga Massage or Nuad Boran (literally meaning "acient massage") was born in India 2.500 years ago, at the time of the awaken Buddha. The origin is attributed to Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, a famous yogi and doctor in the healing tradition of Ayurveda who treated, among others, the Buddha.
Approximately 2.000 years ago, when Buddhism was brought to Siam (nowadays Thailand), it came along with its healing practices such as Ayurvedic medicine and yoga. The traditional Thai medicine incorporated those healing techniques and Nuad Boran was born. Nuad Boran was taught and practiced in temples and monasteries where people went in search of healing remedies. Nowadays, it is practiced all over Thailand and the entire world.

Technique:
The Thai Yoga Bodywork is a powerful dynamic massage therapy in which the giver uses thumbs, fingers, palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet along the body's energy lines and pressure points combining acupressure, gentle stretching, rhythmic massage, breathing techniques and assited asanas (yoga poses). Joints are opened, muscles and tendons stretched, internal organs toned.

Thai Yoga Massage is performed on the floor; both giver and receiver are dressed in comfortable clothes allowing movement and flexibility. No oils or creams are used.

Benefits:
The results of a Thai Yoga Massage session is a full body treatment that brings relaxation, releases stress, relieves muscular tension and aching joints, increases flexibility, improves circulation, boosts the immune system, detoxifies, and balances the body energetically bringing the person deeper into balance and harmony for health, happiness and wellness of being.

Some people say that Thai massage is like doing yoga without any work. :D

How much?

60 min session - 700 Nu.
90 min session - 900 Nu.
(in case of financial difficulties, the rate can be negociated)

Where?

Nyin-Dah Yoga Philosophy

Nyin-Dah Yoga Studio is here to share the art of yoga with everyone in Thimphu. Our goal is to provide a space where to find balance.

Our wish is to meet everyone's need and therefore we are providing different styles of yoga, at different times and at the lowest price possible in order to ensure our sustainibility and be able to continue to exist.

Nyin-Dah Yoga Studio aims at staying local as much as possible and therefore refrains from importing equipment. We also believe it is important to involve our community into the yoga project.
At the studio, we have props to ensure a safe and comfortable practice. The bolsters, eye-pillows, sandbags, blocks and most of the furniture were made at Draktsho, the Vocational Training Centre for the Disabled in Thimphu. The bolsters have been filled with left-overs from tailoring shops in an attempt to recycle. The eye-pillows are filled with buckweat husk from Bumthang, rice and lavanda (from Spain) to gain the magic scent. The sandbags carry sand from the Wangchuk river.

We hope our efforts will be manifested in a beautiful and mindful yoga community.
