"Blanc" (1994) - Movie screening Saturday 27feb after class

we will project "Blanc" (1994) from Kieslowski's triology "Three Colours".

Although Three Colours is a trilogy, there is no need to watch "Bleu" to understand "Blanc".

"Blanc" (white in English) is the second movie of the Three Colours trilogy and illustrates the second theme: Equality.
As with “Bleu” and “Rouge”, “White” contains numerous images that at first appear not to be connected but are actually flashbacks or flash-forwards to the other films in the trilogy.
There is frequent use of its title colour, too. This transmits a white mood, alternately hopeful (clarity, innocence…) and cold (snow, stone, the pigeon droppings that rain on Karol early in the film…).

For the music, this time Preisner will capture us under a white embrace…You’ll have to judge the rest on Saturday… Kieslowski has always a surprise for you…
